How Hard the Pirates?

Do you want to share?

Do you like this story?

Pirates are still constantly attacking ships off the coast of lawless Somalia despite naval patrols by more than a dozen nations.

What can be done to bring law and order where men use guns to resolve disputes and make a living?

I saw an interview with one of the ship owners, he said they are not armed because they do not want to pay or train people to use weapons. They are afraid armed crews will only make things worse, and it will be like the wild west. They said the pirates seldom kill anyone, so this system works for everyone. There also doesn't seem to be much interest on the part of our Government to step in.

Why not put together a fleet of ships and give them navy protection around the horn of Africa and problem areas! This problem can be solved with out a lot of brains if we would just do it! Pirates show up, navy blows them out of the water, case closed! Let the sea have the spoils!

How hard can this be?
