Exorcism and Deliverance is used to cast a demon out of the body or soul of a person. Many religions deny the existence of evil and evil spirits. These religions state that exorcism and deliverance is a superstitious belief of the past.

There is a renewed interest in spirit channeling activity today. People are innocently believing that channeling is a way to spiritual wisdom. New Age Movement and Occult beliefs state that spirits are dead people waiting for a chance to impart their spiritual wisdom. There are no rules or warnings in channeling the spirits.

The function of exorcism and deliverance is a Christian responsibility. Jesus cast out many demons and he gave Christians the authority to do the same. "And these signs shall follow them that believe: In My Name shall they cast out devils." Mark 16:17

One spiritually strong Christian can exorcise a demon spirit out of a person. Many times there is a deliverance team that ministers together. Each Christian on the deliverance team is prepared by prayer and fasting and seeking the Lord before the exorcism. Each Christian ministers as the Lord leads: one will pray in tongues, others cope with the demonic manifestations as they occur, others move in the gifts of the Holy Spirit such as "Word of Knowledge and Discernment of the spirits.

Self-deliverance can be practiced by a "born again" Christian who casts out demons resident in their body or soul. The person relies on the Holy Spirit to guide him or her concerning prayer with the mind and with tongues, fasting, scriptures, word of knowledge, spiritual discernment, and the constant practice of spiritual warfare.

Exorcism and deliverance may or may not be a one-time event but there must be daily practice of spiritual warfare to stay free.
